Lithuania, Marijampole: 14th International Conference of the Association of Marian Helpers and Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception<\/h1><\/div>

On April\u00a024-26, 2012, the 14th\u00a0International Conference of leaders of the Association of Marian Helpers and Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception took place in Marijampole, Lithuania. This year conference topic was:\u00a0A Pastor and a Guide \u2013 the 25th\u00a0Anniversary of the beatification of Blessed George Matulaitis-Matulewicz<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The conference was attended by representatives of the AMH and Confraternity branches from Poland, the\u00a0U.S., the\u00a0U.K., Lithuania, Latvia, Portugal, and Argentina. This year, the Superior General of the Congregation was represented by his delegate, Fr.\u00a0Wojciech Jasi\u0144ski,\u00a0MIC, the 4th\u00a0General Councilor and General Treasurer. On behalf of the General Superior, Fr.\u00a0Wojciech greeted the conference participants at the opening and summed up its proceedings at the closing. The introductory word was delivered by Brother Andrew M\u0105czy\u0144ski,\u00a0MIC, the General Promoter of the AMH and the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception at the Congregation of Marian Fathers and the conference organizer.<\/p>\n

Three talks were delivered during the first day of proceedings. The keynote speakers were Fr.\u00a0Janusz Kumala,\u00a0MIC, from Liche\u0144, who spoke of \u201cBlessed George Matulaitis-Matulewicz as\u00a0a Servant of the Church<\/i>\u201d and \u201cEcclesial Significance of the Cult of the Saints and the Blesseds \u2013 Inspirations for the Venerators of Blessed George Matulaitis-Matulewicz,\u201d and Fr.\u00a0Pawe\u0142 Chudzik,\u00a0MIC, from Vilnius, who talked about \u201cBlessed George Matulaitis-Matulewicz \u2013 a gift for the Lithuanian Church and Nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The conference was hosted by the AMH branch in Lithuania. At the conclusion, its Director, Fr.\u00a0Vytautas Brilius,\u00a0MIC, invited participants to make a bus trip\u2013pilgrimage to the places of Our Lady apparitions in Lithuania: the Marian Shrine in \u0160iluva and the Hill of Crosses near \u0160iauliai. During the conference, Bishop Rimantas Norvila, the Ordinary of the Vilkavi\u0161kis Diocese, greeted the conference participants. One of the daily liturgies was presided over by Bishop Juozas \u017demaitis,\u00a0MIC, Ordinary Emeritus of the Vilkavi\u0161kis Diocese.<\/p>\n

To close, it worth mentioning that the conference participants had an opportunity to visit the newly opened museum dedicated to the Blessed Founder of the Marians. The Lithuanian Marians organized this museum in the rooms of the Marijampole monastery, thanks to the funds granted by the European Union.<\/p>\n
