On Thursday, 3 May 2018, President of the Republic of Latvia, Raimonds Vejonis, presented State awards at a ceremony at the Riga Castle.
Among the decoration recipients is also Fr. Rinalds Stankevičs, MIC, superior of our religious house of St. Albert the Great in Vilani, pastor of parishes in Vilani, Ostrone, Nagla, and Rikava, and vice-chairman of the Conference of Institutes of Consecrated Life in Latvia.
The President thanked everyone for their great love for the Homeland and the many years of work for the good of the State.
“ The Order of the Three Stars, the Order of Viestura, and the Cross of Recognition are part of our history. From the moment of their creation and until the present day, these awards speak of people, whose names and work we remember and cherish. The names of these people are inscribed in our history,” said the President.
Father Rinalds Stankevičs, MIC, became a Knight of the Order of the Three Stars for his “dedicated pastoral work, generous contribution to the renovation and preservation of churches and monuments of the Latgalia culture”, stated the award declaration. The newly decorated said that this award was not for him personally, but for his entire Congregation.
