Brother Mirosław Cholewa was born on May 16, 1966 in Wysokie Mazowieckie. He graduated from the Railroad Technical School in Białystok and from 1987 to 1996 worked in his profession specializing in the maintenance and upkeep of automatic train braking equipment. In 1996, he applied to the Congregation of Marian Fathers as a candidate for a religious brother, but after his postulancy he did not begin the novitiate. In 1999 he applied again and, after his novitiate, took his vows in Góra Kalwaria on September 8, 2000. His first assignment was the Seminary House in Lublin, where he participated in junior formation. In 2001, he began his studies at the “GigaBajt” Post-Secondary School of Informatics in Lublin, which he completed in 2003, earning the title of IT technician. In the same year he was admitted to perpetual profession; he made his profession in Lublin at the hands of the Superior General, Fr. Mark Garrow, MIC. He was transferred to Warsaw’s Stegny district and became Assistant Provincial Treasurer, contributing to the dissemination of the electronic financial ledger that serves the Province to this day. In 2006, he asked for and received permission to serve as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion in a Stegny parish. Since 2011, with the approval of his superiors, he has used clerical attire. In 2019, he was transferred to the religious house in Zakopane, Cyrhla, but continued to advise the brothers in the various houses of the Province on various problems related to the operation of computers and the software used in the Province.
In March 2024, he was diagnosed with cancer, which was rapidly ravaging his body. He endured his ailments with faith and cheerfulness. He died in a hospital in Zakopane on September 9, 2024. The funeral Mass was celebrated in the parish church of Divine Mercy in Zakopane at Cyrhla on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. The funeral ceremony took place in the church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Góra Kalwaria on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The body of our confrere was then laid to rest in the Marian quarters of the parish cemetery in Góra Kalwaria.
