Poland
Poland has always been the heart of the Congregation’s existence. The Marians were founded near Warsaw more than 350 years ago by Saint Stanislaus Papczynski.
Today, about 200 Marians are involved in active ministry in Poland. The Congregation operates several shrines devoted to Our Lady including a shrine in Lichen, which was blessed by the Holy Father, Saint John Paul II, in 1999. Now completed, the shrine seats more than 7,000 people.
The Polish Marians also operate the Association of Marian Helpers and apostolates that include catechesis for children and teenagers, missions and parish renewal programs, academic work and formation, along with writing and publishing.
